Not sure if you guys have noticed, but there's a little link over on the right hand side of this page to a Ron Paul website. I'm assuming that Eric put that there, since I introduced him, and since Eric coops all of my political positions ("GET THE F OUT OF MY HEAD!!!"). But you should check him out. He's a Republican presidential candidate, and he's Libertarian. The man is principled. He's a Republican Congressman from Texas who has consistenly opposed the death penatly, the PATRIOT act, and the Iraq War. He supports lots of Libertarian things, like eliminating the IRS and returning to the Gold Standard, etc, etc.
So why should you care about Libertarian things? Because what we need, my friends, is a return to things on a small scale. We need LOCAL economy and LOCAL centers of power, not National ones. Local economies encourage strong communities and strong places. They help out lives remain coherent. They help us know our neighbors. They cause us to see the poor on a more personal level, so that we understand their problems and are more willing to help them.
Some might say that Libertarianism only supports the Corporations. It may help them to an extent, but big government often helps them even more through ill-advised policies. Libertarianism means small government. Also, it might mean legalized pot. I'm just throwing that out there. You can take it or leave it.
So, go Libertarian with me (and now Eric). It's cool. Trust me.
P. S. I feel better than I did my last post. Just in case you were worried.

ha. politics. right.
Taken from Ron Paul's website:
"So called free trade deals and world governmental organizations like the International Criminal Court (ICC), NAFTA, GATT, WTO, and CAFTA are a threat to our independence as a nation. They transfer power from our government to unelected foreign elites.
The ICC wants to try our soldiers as war criminals. Both the WTO and CAFTA could force Americans to get a doctor’s prescription to take herbs and vitamins. Alternative treatments could be banned.
The WTO has forced Congress to change our laws, yet we still face trade wars. Today, France is threatening to have U.S. goods taxed throughout Europe. If anything, the WTO makes trade relations worse by giving foreign competitors a new way to attack U.S. jobs.
NAFTA’s superhighway is just one part of a plan to erase the borders between the U.S. and Mexico, called the North American Union. This spawn of powerful special interests, would create a single nation out of Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, with a new unelected bureaucracy and money system. Forget about controlling immigration under this scheme.
And a free America, with limited, constitutional government, would be gone forever.
Let’s not forget the UN. It wants to impose a direct tax on us. I successfully fought this move in Congress last year, but if we are going to stop ongoing attempts of this world government body to tax us, we will need leadership from the White House.
We must withdraw from any organizations and trade deals that infringe upon the freedom and independence of the United States of America."
so is isolationism the answer? wikipediaing (is that a verb?) isolationism results in an interesting read. i feel that ron paul's stance is a bit ridiculous (and a little conspiracy theory), especially as it pertains to the ICC. Haven't had a lot of time to look into this guy, but I'm dubious. Try again. Don't waste your vote.
